As a silversmith, Sandy Maggio, designs and fabricates jewelry and holloware from precious metals and gemstones. In her studio she uses raw materials such as silver and gold grains and sheet to create each individual piece.
Maggio hand makes every component, from hammering and forging the metals to soldering the bezels and setting the stones. She hand carves her own wax designs or makes molds from vintage medals and then recasts the object in silver or gold to incorporate into a piece. For her holloware bowls, cups and other vessel she uses different techniques such as hand raising and fold-forming to make every item one of a kind.
Maggio's award winning work has sold worldwide and has hung in the Mississippi Museum of Art, The George Ohr Museum of Art, as well as several stores and galleries.
